Masters of the Zhang Zhung Nyengyud Yongdzin Lopon Tenzin Namdak Carol Ermakova and Dmitry Ermakov 9788170262688 Books

What a beautiful book for those who appreciate great Tibetan art and great book publishing. It's a heavy book for its size on quality paper and filled with wonderful illustrations of the Zhang Zhung (Dzogchen) lineage holders. There is even a lineage tree chart that folds out. For those who follow the practice of Dzogchen this book represents a fine historical lesson and contains the sayings each master considered essential to the practice. This isn't the book to learn the basic teachings or practice, but it is one to savor, perhaps leaving it on the bed stand and reading one or two sections each night. Thirty five masters are covered in varying degrees plus the current lineage holder. This after a 37 page introduction. So if you're looking for a basic explanation of the practice of Dzogchen, this isn't it. If you're looking for a beautiful and poetic sample of the Dzogchen traditions don't hesitate to add this gem to your collection.

Masters of the Zhang Zhung Nyengyud Yongdzin Lopon Tenzin Namdak Carol Ermakova and Dmitry Ermakov 9788170262688 Books Reviews

What the product review does not mention and what makes this neat little book precious is that it has color pictures (tsakli cards) of the great Bon Mahasiddhas who have attained the Rainbow Body and other states of enlightenment. This represents a lineage of passing the teachings from teacher to sometimes only one student by oral transmission, or, as in later times, with scarce text. Accompanying each picture is a pithy statement about the method and the idea is to meditate and commune with the master. Imagine the mind trip of traveling down this ladder of saints who were embodied over several thousand years of earth's history!

Of course the Lopon states that one should have the actual empowerment for these teachings from a lineage holder but so much of the Bon treasures has been unavailable in the past and feels the concepts are so important that they must be written in a text. All of it is now in English, thanks to this able translation by the Ermakovs.
Great product and service.
This book contains the heart instructions of past masters, who all attained rainbow body.

The value of this book is truly incalculable. Very recommended!
Another wonderful Bon teaching of Yongdzin Lopon Tenzin Namdak translated by the Ermakovs. The superb illustrations are helpful as well as beautiful.
Each of the Masters of the Zhang Zhung Nyengyud form of Dzogchen
have given to mankind a simple, concise summation of their Dzogchen
practice. My total favorite is Dawa Galtsen, but there is still
more to gain from others views. If you've found books on Dzogchen
to sometimes be a bit vague, try this one.
This is the second copy I purchased. The first copy I read and gave to a friend. This is the Dzogchen male lineage and the teachings they transmitted to their students. All the male masters are in this book, and the transmissions are powerful. Highly recommended book for any serious Dzogchen practitioner, or as it seems 'practitioner'!
